Emerging infectious diseases: Norwalk viruses and cruise ship outbreaks
Through this course you will learn that microbes have a large impact on the world and the people within it. As future nurses and public health workers, you will continue to learn throughout your careers about specific microbes and how they can affect the community health and the environment. I am providing a list of topics for you to choose from. You are to write a 4 to 5 paged paper. It is to be double spaced and size 12 font. You will need to include a reference page for all websites, journals, and/ or books you may be using. The reference page will be included at the end of the paper. It should be alphabetized by the last names of the authors. Reference pages are single spaced within each reference, and has the indentation named Hanging, where the first line is not indented and every line within that reference is indented. For help with your reference page format, you can go to easybib.com, and use APA format. Use APA format of internal citation throughout the paper referring back to the references on the reference page. The format of internal citation is (Author year of publication). You use it at the end of a sentence before the period within a paragraph that uses various references. If the whole paragraph is from one reference, you only need to use internal citation once at the end of the paragraph after the last period. Be careful with choosing your sources on the internet. .com, .net, and Wikipedia are not reliable sources. .org, .edu, and .gov are more reliable. You can search through WPU library for reliable sources. Remembering to paraphrase from your sources. You may quote also, but do not overuse quotes. For a 5 paged paper, 2 or 3 is maximum. In writing your paper, the bulk of the paper is research, but also include at least one to two paragraphs of your opinion of the information that you learned in writing the paper. What the topic/research informative? Was there any surprises about microbes that you had no idea about what they could do? Anything you found specifically interesting that you learned? Or anything else you would want to include. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a positive impact from the microbe.
